Hiking in Raurisertal

Skywards

Hike or stroll on 295 km signposted hiking paths and visit the 5 tributary valleys which have almost 40 managed Alpine lodges. The hiking paths in beautiful Raurisertal are mainly easy (blue). A few of the easy paths are also suitable for prams. For longer hikes,  there are the medium difficulty level routes (red), while for experts, there are a few high Alpine tours (black).

Seidlwinkltal and Kolm Saigurn are accessible by public transport. The Tälerbus and the public Postbus head there at  regular intervals. Incidentally, both these buses are free of charge with the National Park Summer Card. The Rauriser Hochalmbahn gondola is also a perfect ascent aid, for instance for a tour to the various summits in the Rauris mountains.

Gaisbachtal

The "Valley of myths and legends"

Via the floral hiking trail with numerous exhibition boards about the unique flora of Raurisertal, you come to Karalm at around 1500m. Enjoy the views right across Raurisertal to the Großglockner. Want to head up higher? Then follow the wonderful root-strewn hiking paths up to the Grubereck at 2167 m and enjoy the extensive views right across Raurisertal.

Forsterbachtal

The "Original valley"

Superb hikes from Vorstanddorf into the fairytale surroundings of the Hoffmannalm, continuing to Flatscheralm and finally via the Edertrog to the lovely Lercheggalm (open for business) at 1895m altitude. Very well signposted easy and moderately difficult hiking paths provide variety, from forest roads to root-strewn hiking paths, taking you into the breath-taking natural surroundings.

Seidlwinkltal

The "Valley of the pilgrims and 'Säumer' (goods transporters)

Via the "Wasserinformationsweg" you initially come to the Gollehenalm, Palfneralm and  Tauernhaus, then finally to Litzlhofalm. Rauriser Tauernhaus, which is over 500 years old, was in times past a rest station for the 'Säumer'. Enjoy the refreshing water from the numerous troughs that are located on the path and fill your water bottles with this precious, crystal clear nectar.

Using your National Park Summer Card you can conveniently get to the first three inns free of charge using the Tälerbus!

Krumltal

The "Valley of the vulture"

This superb Alpine valley was chosen as the area in Alps to resettle the bearded vulture. Observe these majestic birds of prey in free flight - griffon vultures and golden eagles, along with marmots, chamois and other Alpine animals. Our TIP: A guided hike of the National Park with a qualified ranger. At 1606m is the Bräualm where you can sample home-made made using produce from local farms. Take home some holiday memories and hike for another 15 minutes or so up to the breath-taking waterfall after the Rohrmoosalm.

Hüttwinkltal

The "Valley of Gold"

This valley is know for its unique valley head, Kolm Saigurn, and Europe's highest weather station on the Hoher Sonnblick at 3106 m altitude.

Along with various gold themed hikes, there is also Rauriser Urwald, Rauriser UrQuell and the waterfall circuit to explore here. There are 8 Alpine inns and shelters in which you can enjoy a rest.

Hochalm – a family mountain

The 6-seater cable car takes you to the mountain station at 1780 m in mere minutes. At the intermediate station there is a gold panning area, where gold panners of all ages can try their luck. Equipment is available for hire. Just above the mountain station is the bird of prey observation point. During a 40 minute flight demonstration you get to learn about the behaviour of the eagle, hawks, buzzards and large owls.

For the descent,  the forest path is suitable for prams, while the action-packed forest path "Tilly's Waldpfad" takes you back to the intermediate station.
